10:00 – 10:05 Opening Remarks
Mr. Daren Tang, Director General, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
10:05 – 10:15 High-level Remarks
10:15 – 10:45 AI Infrastructure Interchange: Overview and Progress Updates from WIPO Secretariat

The WIPO Secretariat will provide an overview of AIII and updates about the makeup and work of the Technical Exchange Network (the TEN). Including a presentation on the work-in-progress initial mapping exercise of existing IP infrastructure and the challenges and opportunities arising at the intersection of IP and AI.

10:45 – 11:35 Industry Workflows Focus Group Update

AI—both generative and non-generative—is presenting different challenges and opportunities for different creative and innovative industries. Some of these differences reflect differences in how these industries have developed over time and the existing IP infrastructure that has been built. As an entry point to the critical discussions of AI and IP infrastructure, this focus group is building industry-specific workflow visualizations to illustrate how industries function and the points of contact each industry has with AI.

11:35 – 11:50 Coffee Break
11:50 – 12:10 AI in the Creative Process – A Live Demonstration
12:10 – 13:00 Metadata Framing Focus Group Update

At the heart of most IP infrastructure lies metadata—defined as data about data. Metadata is often viewed as a purely technical topic that rests entirely with industry actors to engage with and remains impenetrable for others. But the reality of IP infrastructure in the age of AI is that nearly every legal or policy issue that arises is tied to the need for robust and effective metadata, irrespective of the policy choice that is made. This focus group is working on ways to recontextualize and frame metadata in the age of AI and why getting metadata right matters now more than ever.

13:00 – 15:00 Lunch Break
15:00 – 15:15 The Art of the Possible – Developments in Attribution Technology
15:15 – 16:05 AI-Generated Content Taxonomy Focus Group Update

Questions about whether AI has been used in the creation of text, images, music, and other content are arising in a wide range of contexts and policymakers have enacted or are considering labeling or other transparency requirements. But whether something is considered “AI-generated” and why such a distinction matters may vary dramatically depending on the context. This focus group is exploring ways to approach these contextual differences and provide useful technology-based approaches to differentiating between different types of AI generation and assistance.

16:05 – 16:20 Coffee Break
16:20 – 17:10 Common Lexicon Focus Group Update

Terminology used in the IP infrastructure and AI context can be technically dense and inconsistent—the same term may be used to mean different things in different contexts or by different stakeholders and a different term can be used to mean the same thing. Work is ongoing throughout the world and across different sectors to develop lexicons or glossaries for different contexts, but the connective tissue between those efforts is not strong. This focus group is working on compiling and synthesizing existing resources and developing a common lexicon to aid policymakers and other stakeholders in speaking the same language on these critical issues.

17:10 – 17:25 AI Infrastructure Interchange: What’s Next for AIII and the Technical Exchange Network
17:25 – 17:55 Floor Interventions from Member States, Observers, and Members of the Technical Exchange Network
17:55 – 18:00 Closing Remarks
Mr. Kenichiro Natsume, Assistant Director General, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
